I was lucky enough to catch it in a limited theater release here in the states, and it completely blew me away This was the only time in my life when the movie ended, the lights came up, and we all just sat there in silence.

Since then I have anxiously waited for the DVD to be available here so I can show it to everyone I know, because I feel like this is the kind of movie everyone can enjoy and everyone should see.
Even if you're not big into anime or animated movies in general, although you will appreciate it even more if you are.
The animation is beautiful, but it's the story The range of emotions I experienced while watching this was just astounding and unexpected.
For anyone wondering, the Original Japanese Version does have subtitles, as I was wondering it myself as it isn't clearly mentioned.
The other "Your Name" is just an English dub. This will go down as one of the best films of all time. If you haven't seen this movie, you are missing a piece of art and a story that shouldn't be left out of your life.
There's something incredibly unique and beautiful about this hand-drawn art - time, passion, and traditions, that can never be duplicated by 3D animations pumped out by computer software that we're all used to in the United States.
Every scene in this movie is immaculate - a qualified desktop wallpaper or piece of art that could be hung on your wall, and all of it looked stunning watching it on my OLED65B6 TV.
The characters are loveable, the artwork is unbelievably good, the story is unforgettable and ends perfectly, all of it leaving a pleasantly warm pressure in your chest.
I've watched both the English sub and dub via Amazon Video. If you want the true experience in the manner of which was meant to be watched being a Japanese movie , then watch the English sub.
The English dub just can't perfectly replicate all the scene by scene cultural nuances and voice inflections as well as Japanese voice actors which makes sense as this is based in Japan, with Japanese characters, in Japanese culture, etc.
The creator, Makoto Shinkai was extremely modest, being the Japanese man he is, and even felt his own creation was incomplete - whether or not that's true, I'm truly grateful I was alive to see this.
With all its perfections and imperfections, "Your Name" is Nothing more, nothing less-- than a beautiful view. I saw this movie online when it first came out and it is one of the best anime films I have ever seen.
I just got it and watched it again this time with the dub and I still feel the same way. Do not miss out on this, I also like the ost.

I chose to buy the collectors edition as I loved the movie and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Having listened to the CD, I can say that it moved me listening to it.
The music from the movie was beatuiful anyway. Tracks that stand out would be "Zenzenzense", "Sparkle" and "Nandemonaiya" The last track on the album The Bluray disc was good based on the quality of the movie.
You have the movie in p, and audio options are English 5. In my honest opinion, the extras were a little lacking. You have a Japanese promo clip, English trailer, a sort of documentary with interviews from the cast and director and Madman production company trailers.
In closing, I do recommend you buy if you would like this in your collection. However, if you do choose to buy this, go for the collector's edition.
I remember seeing this heavily advertised when I visited Japan in and had been excited to see it ever since and it really was worth the wait.
The story had me a little confused at the beginning, however shortly after things start to fall in place. The story was intriguing and had me guessing what was going to happen throughout the film, not only that, it hit me with different emotions from extreme laughter to anticipation and a bit of an emotional roller-coaster.
The change of characteristics when they swapped bodies was well done, the animation is beautiful and a great soundtrack to go with it, making it a complete package; I was also very happy with the ending, it was perfect in my opinion.
This is definitely one of my favourite anime films to date and would highly recommend it. An Amazing watch. I was concerned it was over hyped but i have to say i was shocked at how good this was.

I can honestly say this is probably one of is not my most favourite film of all time. Worth every penny and was worthy of the hype built around it, my only regret was not buying the limited edition, though i didn't want to spend extra cash without knowing if i would enjoy it or not.
The movie will have you hooked into it, it will make you sad, desperate, get a cheap laugh or two and possibly shed a tear, and every second you will be dying to see the next.
Never have I been so moved as much as I had, while watching this film. The artwork is absolutely phenomenal. The musical score is enough to reduce you to tears and the chracter design is superb as well as the superd voice acting.
The story and characters really pulled me into it, I only wished that it was a little longer and delved a little more into their body switching!

The price was amazing on it's own and it was shipped pretty quickly and arrived in perfect condition! The movie itself is utterly breathtaking both in plot and in animation style.
I absolutely adore slice of life type stories and this was a perfect mix of that plus unexpected sci-fi. A perfect balance of humor and heartbreak, this had both me and my brother crying for the past four times we've watched it!
Even the dubbed version was remarkable and you could really tell the voice actors cared about portraying the same types of emotion.
Of course I felt there were some discrepancies with what the sub and dub translations of certain lines were, but overall both casts did an amazing job in bringing to life a touching story that I can't see getting old any time soon!
For how popular this film was when it came out, and the hype it amassed, I'm quite surprised how long it took for me to come around to it.
In a way that's for the best because I had no idea what this film would be like going into it. Body switching, romance, and personal growth are abound in this beautifully animated feature.
Because this is a film there are many cute montages of the two main characters living each other's lives, but because of the middle twist and it's eventual fallout it doesn't leave much time to character build in a satisfying way, and you might be left feeling like it needed another twenty minutes or so to really dive into the relationship build up between the two characters.
Other than that small nitpick, and it's understandable considering how much is being put into a two hour film, this movie is fantastic and emotional, and sniff bring tissues.
A great movie, but not quite deserving the title "masterpiece" like 5 Centimeters. The main reason is that a big piece of the story was already used by Hollywood those of you who have seen The Lake House know what I'm talking about; they just replaced meeting at the lake house with body-swapping , which does take away from its originality.
Whether Your Name did it better or not is up for debate. I had high expectations for this movie which were almost met.
The story is very coherent and the animation gorgeously breathtaking, with many of Shinkai's trademarks visible, but it's still not as good as 5 Cm.
I think the only thing Your Name did better than it was the ending, though that's part of what makes 5 Cm a masterpiece. I would recommend watching first or at least wait until it's on sale to buy.
